Mitt Romney was actually the first candidate to use 'Change' as a slogan during the 2008 primaries,"huffs.

Though it's understandable that a likely Republican 2012 candidate would want to seize the "change" mantle from the sitting president, claiming that Obama was inspired by Romney seems a tad ill-advised. Especially given that perhaps the single greatest hurdle for Romney to overcome in the GOP primary will be to dispell the notion that Obama was inspired by Romney another time: when designing his health care overhaul.

Jockeys Calvin Borel, John Velazquez and Garrett Gomez and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer were named Wednesday for the first time as finalists for the National Racing Museum's Hall of Fame.

This year's nominations are rounded out by six previous finalists: jockey Alex Solis, trainers Gary Jones and Robert Wheeler, and thoroughbreds Open Mind, Safely Kept and Sky Beauty.

A jury will hear closing arguments Wednesday and deliberate on the 11 charges facing a Cuban-born former CIA agent on trial for perjury in Texas.

On Monday, a Florida ex-prosecutor defended the reporting of a former New York Times reporter who interviewed the anti-communist militant, Luis Posada Carriles, in 1998 about several bombings that took place in Cuba a year earlier.

The Tampa Bay Lightning secured a spot in the NHL playoffs for the first time in four years with a 2-1 win over a wasteful Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

"For us, it's been a long time coming, guys that have been here a few years," said Martin St Louis, who was a member of the 2004 Lightning team that lifted the Stanley Cup.

Hundreds of Syrians chanted "freedom" as they gathered late Saturday in the Damascus suburb of Douma to receive protesters wounded when they confronted security forces the day before, a witness said.

Around 50 wounded arrived in secret police cars to Municipality Square, where at least five people were killed on Friday when security forces fired at protesters demanding political freedoms and an end to corruption, according to human right defenders.

A Memphis county official has opened an online museum of case files, personal correspondence and little-seen black-and-white images chronicling the jail time of James Earl Ray, who killed civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. 43 years ago this Monday.

"This is not just an incredible part of Shelby County history and Tennessee history, but national and world history," said Tom Leatherwood, 54, Shelby County register of deeds.
